Deactivating and Reactivating Users

Remove platform access for inactive users and restore it when needed

When a user no longer needs platform access, they can be deactivated. This removes their access to the platform, and removes them from the Active Users list (and user count). Their data will be saved, however, so that you can reactivate them at any time.

Note: Users are deactivated rather than deleted, to maintain data integrity. Deactivated user data is inaccessible from most in-platform reporting, though it all can be retrieved in the Data Export API. If an account is reactivated, all data becomes available again.

Switch to Admin mode if needed. Open Users on the left, which opens the Active Users list.

To deactivate a single user, search or filter the list to find the user. Click their More icon and choose Deactivate.

You can also deactivate multiple users at once. For example, you can filter by Account Type and graduation year, to select all undergraduates who are leaving. Then use the Select All button.

While users are selected, click the More icon above the table and choose Deactivate.

To see the list of  deactivated users, choose Deactivated under Users.

Reactivating is done the same way, for individual or selected groups of students.
